Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

HawlerAI (hawlerai.com) is a service from Sweden. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at hawlerai.support@gmail.com.

2. What data we process

Account data: your email address and name, which you give when you sign up. Sign-in is handled by our provider Clerk.
Chat data: the messages you send and the replies you receive. We store your chats in a database, linked to your account, so that you can see them on all your devices.
Usage data: daily counters per account for messages, files and Kurdish voice use, used to enforce usage limits. They are kept for about two days.
Files you attach: images and PDF files you attach to a message are sent to Anthropic together with the message, so the AI can read them. We do not store the files. Your chat history only saves the file name.
Payment data: payments are handled by our payment provider. We do not see or store your card number.
Voice (microphone and voice mode): for English, Arabic and Swedish, speech recognition and reading aloud are done by your own browser and its provider (for example Google or Apple). We do not receive that audio.
Kurdish (Sorani) voice: if you choose Kurdish and use the microphone or voice mode, your voice recording is sent through our server to KurdishTTS (kurdishtts.com), which turns it into text. In voice mode, the AI's replies are also sent to KurdishTTS to be read aloud. We do not store the audio ourselves. The text becomes part of your chat, like a typed message.
Technical data: our hosting provider may log technical information such as your IP address when you visit the site.

3. How we use your data

To provide the chat service and show your chat history.
To create your account and let you sign in.
To handle subscriptions and payments.
To protect the service, prevent abuse and enforce limits.
To answer your questions and requests to us.

4. AI processing

To write a reply, the messages in your current chat, and any files you attach, are sent to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI models. Please do not write sensitive personal information in your chats, such as health details, passwords or identity numbers. Anthropic has its own privacy policy, which you can find on its website.

5. Legal basis

We process your data to fulfil our agreement with you (providing the service), for our legitimate interests (security, preventing abuse and limiting costs), and to meet legal obligations such as accounting rules.

6. Who we share data with

We use these service providers to run the site:

Clerk: sign-in, accounts and subscription handling.
Vercel: hosting of the website.
Upstash: database where chats and usage counters are stored (region: Frankfurt, Germany).
Anthropic: AI model that writes the replies.
KurdishTTS (kurdishtts.com): Kurdish (Sorani) speech-to-text and text-to-speech, only when you use voice in Kurdish. KurdishTTS has its own privacy policy, which you can find on its website.
Stripe or another payment provider: payments.

Some of these providers are located in, or process data in, the United States. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards they offer, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. We do not sell your personal data.

7. How long we keep data

Chats are deleted when you delete them, when you use the button Delete all chats, or automatically after 90 days without activity.
The daily usage counters are deleted after about two days.
Account and payment records are kept as long as you have an account and as long as the law requires, for example for accounting.

8. Your rights

You have the right to ask for access to your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive a copy of the data you gave us. You can delete your chats yourself in the app. For other requests, write to hawlerai.support@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se.

9. Cookies and local storage

We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in. Your browser also stores your choice of language and model. We do not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy.

10. Children

The service is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 years old to use it.

11. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, but no system is completely secure. The operator of the site has technical access to the database and will only use it to run, secure and support the service.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
